Wout Poel’s was making his debut for the team and was pleased with the way things went “It was nice to start – says the 32-year-old rider from Limburg – because there is always some tension at the first race of the season, but it all worked well. Tomorrow’s finale will be very tough, and it will be very important to finish in the front to have ambitions for the GC. I’m looking forward to that”.

Stage two presents the first uphill finish of this Volta Valenciana with a 3km climb and an average gradient above 10%, with the last 150 meters peaking at 21%.

SD Tim Harris said “Tomorrow will be an interesting day because we will see some gaps on the uphill finish. After that, we’ll know quite more about the GC contenders. Today we did what we have to do and make sure the main riders stayed well at the front in the peloton without incidents, and that was really the major concern for today”.
