Slovenian TT National Champion, Jan Tratnik, finished third on the opening day of Vuelta Espana, putting in a solid display. Tratnik completed the 7.1 km ITT course in Burgos behind Olympic ITT Champion Roglic (Jumbo Visma) and Aranburu (Astana).

Tratnik was happy with his performance: “Today I knew that it’s a good parcour for me, and I wanted to give it my all and prepare to be 100%. I had super support from the team to focus just on my ride.

About my performance today, I felt like I gave everything, and I did my pacing perfectly throughout the day. I think I can be satisfied with that. I didn’t make a mistake, I went really fast on the climb and suffered a little bit in the last kilometre, but that is normal as you need to come to the finish totally empty.”
