What is your favourite race? And climb?

Tour de France, the biggest race in the world, it’s my favourite. And Alpe d’Huez as a climb.

What are your ambitions for the season?

I’m new in WorldTour, so that everything will look new to me. But I’m looking forward to it and will try my best.

What are the most significant differences in stepping up into a WorldTour team?

Everything’s much bigger and very professional.

Tell us the story of moving from a rower to a Pro cyclist.

I was used to be constantly training with a road bike since I was 14 years old, and I like being on the bike doing a lot of training. Some friends who were cyclists in Austria came to me and said I should try cycling as a sport because they said I was fast and skilled for it. That was the reason I started cycling. Of course, there’s a big difference in the move from rowing to cycling, especially the racing distance. But I was also used to doing hard training and workout on the road bike, peek, and training block. For sure, it’s a different sport, but I was good at endurance, so it was not that hard for me, and it was helpful for cycling.

You are a climber who is good at TT. Do you see your opportunity to become a GC rider?

It would be great to become a GC rider. I will always try to improve. I have a lot of potential because I’m still new and have a lot to learn, but I’ll always try to give my best and let’s see how far I can go.

What do you enjoy doing away from the bike?

I like to chill and drink a good coffee when I’m not on the bike.
Then I like to watch movies. Especially action movies: my favourite is the Terminator.

Have you got a nickname?

No, I’m new in the peloton. I don’t have a nickname. Maybe, yes, Terminator will be a cool nickname.

What are your thoughts on the Merida Scultura you will be racing this season?

It’s a great bike to ride. I really like it. It’s really light and stiff.
