Your favourite race and climb?
I’d say Saudi Tour. This race has a special place in my heart for obvious reasons. Climb? Anyone…I don’t like climbs at all.
Your best or most memorable result in pro cycling?
The Dauphine stage win in 2017 was my best result, but as memorable I’d select the Saudi Tour General Classification 2020.
What are your personal ambitions for the season?
Winning races. It’s what I’m here for and what I’m always looking for when the race suits me.
What is it about Germany and producing great sprinters?
I don’t know if there’s some particular reason, but Germany has great History and tradition with sprinters.
How was it working alongside a sprinting legend like Cavendish last season?
It was a great time with him last season. I could learn a lot from him, I’m really thankful for that.
Do you see yourself competing in Grand Tours or focusing on one-week races?
I think riding a Grand Tour would be good for me. At the end the team will decide what is the best for me.
What are your thoughts on the Merida Reacto you will be racing this season?
Merida bikes are just great. I’m really thankful to ride with the Reacto model of the best and fastest bikes in the world.
