_Q&A

Your expectation on joining the sprinter’s train of Team Bahrain Victorious

I’m so happy because I could immediately see the professionalism of this team and how the guys here are working excellently. They are all motivated as I am. I think it will be a lovely experience in my cycling career.
There is a mix of young riders and experienced athletes like me. This combination is perfect for achieving victories.

What is the secret to making a perfect lead-out?

It is essential to have some new guys and guys with experience, and I think after 12 years as a pro rider, I can say I have it.
You gain experience when you race a lot and are in the peloton for several years.

What are your ambitions for the 2023 season?

For sure, to take victories. To ride good classic races as I am a classic rider, and that races suit me well. The Giro is also my dream, and I really want to try to have a victory there.

As an experienced rider, what will be your role within the team?

I think I’m born to be a lead-out man. But I believe that in some races I can enjoy my chances.

What do you enjoy doing away from the bike?

I don’t have much time out of cycling, but I also want to enjoy my free time. I like to be in nature. I also love skiing, that was my previous sport. I was born in the mountains in the Dolomites, so it was natural to become a skier. I like downhill and cross-country skiing, and some alpine too. I really want to stay in contact with nature every day of my life.

What are your thoughts on the Merida Reacto you will be racing this season?

It’s a nice bike. It is very fast.
Maybe I would like to try the Scultura sooner or later, like in hilly courses, but for a rider with my characteristics, REACTO is a perfect bike. Fast and with a low weight. The components and all the materials in this team are perfect for keeping the performance high.
