The 93rd edition of the Bretagne Classic-Ouest-France will take place on Sunday, August 25. The prestigious Plouay race starts and finishes in Plouay and will feature a gruellng 259.8km route with a challenging elevation gain of 4,250m. Riders will face a demanding course characterised by rolling terrain, narrow roads, and technical descents. In the previous edition, only half of the participants managed to complete the race. Key decisive sections include Rostervel (1.5km at 4.5%, with a maximum gradient of 10%) and Le Lezot (0.9km at 5.3%, with a maximum gradient of 14%), located just 9km and 4km from the finish line, respectively.
Headlining our roster for this one-day WorldTour event are Pello Bilbao and Edoardo Zambanini, both of whom demonstrated impressive form in Poland last week. Former British champion Fred Wright will join them. Wright and Dušan Rajović will be making their debuts in this race, wheras both Andrea Pasqualon and Nikias Arndt, come with extensive experience from multiple previous editions of this event. Completing the seven-man team is Yukiya Arashiro, whose reliable assistance will be crucial.
Sports Director Gorazd Štangelj comments: “Our strategy is to have Yukiya and Dušan safeguard the team during the first half of the race. Andrea and Nikias will take over protection duties during the critical final 100km. Meanwhile, Edoardo, Pello, and Fred will be our protected riders, tracking key attacks in the finale. Edoardo, in particular, may seize the moment to make a decisive move when the group is reduced. Our aim is to secure two riders in the Top 10. We have three co-leaders, and the final outcome will depend on race dynamics and who finds themselves in the optimal position.”
