The Bemer Cyclassics returns for its 25th edition this Sunday, August 21st. Bahrain Victorious, led by Phil Bauhaus, will seek victory over the 205km course.
Riding on home roads, Phil Bauhaus has done this race three times previously, and this will be his first with Team Bahrain Victorious. He will be supported by the experienced Heinrich Haussler, who will be key in forming his lead-out. Alongside them will be Kamil Gradek, Jan Tratnik, Yukiya Arashiro and the young Matevz Govekar. Finally, the young Italian Jonathan Milan, who is learning his trade as a sprinter, is another option for the team after showing good form at the Tour of Poland.
Sports director Enrico Poitschke: “The goal for this race is to win it, and we expect it to be a reduced bunch sprint to the finish line. We’ll work for Phil as he’s in very good shape. It’s a World Tour race, so this is an important race for us. There are 4 climbs, the last one 17km before the finish. If there are some attacks, Jan Tratnik will follow attacks. All the others will work for Phil or Jonathan Milan in case there are any issues with Phil, like a puncture or a crash. We have a strong team for this race and will fight to win it.”
