Reduced Line Up for Bahrain Victorious at Plouay

Bahrain Victorious will attend 85th Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France, with a reduced lineup and staff support. Despite initially announcing withdrawing from the race, the team will race the Bretagne classic with five riders following two Covid positive cases, which had close contact with other staff members.

Originally raced with seven riders, Bahrain Victorious lines up with Eros Capecchi, Scott Davies, Kevin Inkelaar, Rafael Valls, and Stephen Williams.

La Bretagne Classic-Ouest France 2021 takes place on 29th August. The race starts and finishes in the small village of Plouay, in the heartland of French cycling. The 251-kilometre course consists of eight laps of a demanding 27 km circuit and one 14-km lap in the backdrop of Brittany. The circuit is known for its high rate of attrition, featuring climbs and technical descents.

Alberto Volpi, the Sports director of the race, said: “We will go to the race without our leader and with five riders. It is not easy to make a race of this level with the reduced lineup, but we will strive for good racing. Our two main protagonists will be Capecchi and Williams. The course is tough. We don’t have a sprinter, but as said, we will try to do our best, giving freedom to those two riders.”
