The third race of the Spring classics will see Bahrain Victorious riders take on the 85th edition of Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields on Saturday, March 26th.
The 260.9km course starts in the old town of Ypres and features several cobbled sectors and climbs as the riders continue preparation for the Ronde Van Vlaanderen. The route starts off flat until 160km into the race, where the peloton will take on nine helligen and several cobbled sectors before the finish.
Despite the challenging final 100km, the race typically is a good chance for sprinters and classic specialists to fight out for the win.
SD Enrico Poitschke believes the team provides options for the win: “In Gent, again, we have a solid line-up with Matej and Jonathan Milan, maybe to contest the sprint, which can happen depending on the weather conditions. Therefore we will have options with Jonathan if a big bunch comes in together, and if not, we will have Matej and Fred to fight for the podium.”
