Bahrain Victorious set for first Tour de Hongrie

For the first time, Team Bahrain Victorious will be heading to the Tour de Hongrie. The five-stage race starts in Siófok on 12th May and ends in Budapest.

Over the five days, the riders will take on a total of 792 kilometres, ascending over 7,954 metres. The decisive stage for the GC will be Stage 4, starting in Balassagyarmat and finish atop of Gyöngyös-Kékestető with the peloton climbing 3,221m over 202km.

It’s an exciting moment for Team Bahrain Victorious as the line-up features Ahmed Madan, the first Bahraini rider, making his debut for the team at this race. Along with Ahmed, the team will be made up of riders from the Belgian Classics and Santiago Buitrago, who will go for the GC.

Sports Director Neil Stephens shared his thoughts on the race: ” For the Tour of Hungary, we’ve got a lot of our classics guys coming back into racing again. So we’ve got four out of the five stages, which are flatter and more classic style of stages. So we’ll be looking to go for some stage results and hopefully get a win on the flatter stages. We’ve also got Santiago Buitrago coming in. He’s got a minor injury, but he’s well prepared for the mountain stages, and so hopefully, we can do well on the mountain stage with him and hopefully in the GC.

Probably one of the most exciting things about the Tour of Hungary is the inclusion of Ahmed Madan into the line-up. It’s his first race here with us in Europe, and we’re looking forward to guiding him through. His career has been progressing really well, up until now, and we are looking forward to taking the next step with Ahmed at the Tour of Hungary and look forward to racing with him.”
