Matevž Govekar and Edoardo Zambanini lead a young Team Bahrain Victorious lineup to the Tour of Antalya.
The Bahraini National Champion Ahmed Madan, Finlay Pickering, Cameron Scott, Alberto Bruttomesso, and Sergio Tu, support the Slovenian sprinter and Italian GC hopeful.
The four stage race offers up opportunities for the sprinters where Govekar and Bruttomesso will be looking to take their chance on the stage opener. Meanwhile, Stage 3, the queen stage, presents an elevation gain of 3,250 meters over the 136,7km stage, shaping the overall classification, where Zambanini will be targeting a podium or better.
Sports Director Enrico Poitschke shared, “The Tour of Antalya, we have a young team there, and the guys will be riding for the first time together. I think we have strong riders, especially in the sprint, along with guys with ambitions in the GC. The challenge I see will be controlling the race, so we will have to work together with total concentration.
We aim to achieve our goals as a team, which is to win a stage and, in the GC, fight for a podium. But we know this is an excellent opportunity for us to take this young team and build it and get experience out of this race.”
