“Guys rode a very attacking race. I am really happy about how the team rode,” our sports director Tim Harris commented after the 5-day Tour de Luxembourg in satisfaction.

“We had a good race. We attacked a lot but failed to get a good final result. To be honest, we just missed a bit of luck because most days we were in the most important break of the day.”

On the rolling terrain throughout the 5 stages, riders of Team Bahrain McLaren tried to make the most of the race. Experienced Italian Eros Capecchi finished 8th on the opening day. It was a nice and gave us confidence at the start of our debut in Tour de Luxembourg. 

Among a group of distinguished sprinters, Mark Cavendish was motivated to hunt for success after resuming his season. He finished 16th on the 2nd day just after the first leading group. Furthermore, Manxman joined a 12-man breakaway today in Stage 5. With relentless ambition, we can see his success in the near future.

Our young talents in this 6-man squad were also impressive in this Tour. Fred was 18th in Stage 3 and Santiago finished twice in Top15. In the end, the young Colombian finished 15th in GC and proved to be the best placed rider in Team Bahrain McLaren. They accumulated precious experience after over 700km of racing.  

“Also coming forward, I think all the guys are in very good condition, especially Fred and Santiago. I think we had a good race. We should be set up now for the upcoming races,” our sports director concluded. 

Unfortunately, Grega Bole hurt his fingers in the crash today and could not finish the race. We hope our Slovenian rider speedy recovery.
